As of the closing date (30 APRIL 2021) for applications, the applicant should be a masters, doctoral or medical student, postdoctoral researcher or early career technician or a researcher with fewer than 5 years following their terminal degree. The applicant can be an individual or a team led by an early career researcher. Those undertaking fundamental and clinical research in the fields of probiotics, prebiotics, synbiotics, postbiotics or fermented foods are encouraged to apply.
Applications will be reviewed by a panel of ISAPP scientists and verified by the Board of Directors, whose decision will be final.
Applicants are judged using the following criteria as applied to research in probiotics, prebiotics, synbiotics, postbiotics or fermented foods:
a significant research finding and its publication(s), to which applicant contributed substantively
major conference presentation(s)
new ideas that advance the field
evidence of impact through citizenship, general outreach, social media, citations, etc.
The individual recipient or one member of the team is expected to give a presentation on the research at a suitable ISAPP conference following the award.
Award: A plaque, speaking slot at the annual ISAPP meeting, travel award to the ISAPP meeting (if held in person) and an unrestricted cash prize ($1500 USD).
