ISAPP is currently established as a non-profit, public-service corporation run by a Board of Directors. (This decision was made to facilitate operation of this organization during early years of establishment.) Since ISAPP is not a member-run organization*, it does not have membership for individuals in the same way other scientific societies do. Furthermore, ISAPP annual meetings are typically small, by-invitation meetings. Attendance is usually restricted to globally-recognized academic experts invited for their knowledge of the microbiome topics being addressed at the meeting. In some years, ISAPP collaborates with other organizations for an open-registration component of their annual meetings. In this case, all are welcome to register.
Individuals are welcome to sign up for the ISAPP mailing list (see footer at bottom of page).
A company interested in membership to the ISAPP Industry Advisory Committee and meeting the requirements stipulated here should contact Mary Ellen Sanders (firstname.lastname@example.org).
*According to the bylaws, ISAPP “shall have no members within the meaning of Section 5056 of the California Nonprofit Corporation Law. Accordingly, any action that would otherwise require approval by the members under the California Nonprofit Corporation Law shall require approval only by the Board. All rights, which would otherwise vest in the members, shall vest in the Board.”
