ISAPP 2026 Annual Meeting Member Program: Thursday, 8th October, 12:00 – 14:30
The member program during this year’s annual meeting will include a working lunch and meeting with the ISAPP board of directors, followed by the popular Industry Advisory Committee (IAC) and Students and Fellows Association (SFA) workshops, providing opportunities for IAC members to strengthen their connections and productive exchanges with ISAPP board members as well as leading early career researchers.
IAC/SFA World Café Workshops. From Science to Responsible Application: Translating Biotic Science
These interactive World Café workshops will bring together industry members, students/fellows, and ISAPP Board members to discuss how microbiome and biotic science can be translated into credible product development and responsible communication.
The discussions will focus on identifying key gaps, barriers, and practical enablers across four topic areas:
- Mechanisms
How does mechanistic science help or hinder translation, and what makes mechanistic insights actionable beyond specialist audiences? - Regulation
Where do scientific evidence and regulatory expectations align or diverge, and what would help translate scientific nuance into regulatory clarity? - Communication
How can biotics science be communicated responsibly, clearly, and effectively across different audiences? - Industry pipeline
Where does promising biotics science stall along the innovation pathway, and what early support could reduce risk?
The session will use small-group discussion and written input to capture perspectives from all participants. Participants will take part in two discussion rounds and will visit two different stations/topics during the session, in which they’re encouraged to share their experience, perspectives, and practical examples from their own work or research environment. We ask participants to come ready to contribute constructively, listen to other perspectives, and help identify practical ways to improve the responsible translation of biotic science. Outputs from the workshop will contribute to a short post-meeting summary on priority gaps and enablers for translating biotics science responsibly.
