Dr. Daniel Merenstein, MD, is a tenured Professor of Family Medicine at Georgetown University, where he also directs Family Medicine research. Dr. Merenstein has a secondary appointment in the undergraduate Dept. of Human Science, the School of Health. Dan was nominated into the National Academy of Medicine (NAM) in 2024. Dr. Mary Ellen Sanders, PhD has served in several roles within ISAPP. She was the founding president, executive science officer and executive director of ISAPP. She retired from ISAPP in 2023 and remains a consultant in the area of probiotic microbiology. She works internationally with food and supplement companies to develop new probiotic products and offers perspective on paths to scientific substantiation of probiotic product label claims.
