Applying probiotics and prebiotics in new delivery formats – is the clinical evidence transferable?

This paper addressed the evidence for whether delivery matrices independently alter the clinical effect of a given probiotic or prebiotic. The authors provide an overview of preclinical and clinical data to examine how probiotic and prebiotic efficacy may be altered by different delivery matrices, while considering the impact of inter-individual host factors on product efficacy. They also touch on regulatory positions across the globe and their requirements to substantiate prebiotic and probiotic efficacy in the final product format.
